# Fitlock vs Pushscroll: a Pushscroll alternative with a free plan

Pushscroll and Fitlock both make you exercise before you scroll. How they differ on price, free plans, what counts as exercise and where they run.

Facts checked 29 September 2026. Sources are listed at the end of the page.

## The short answer

Both apps make you move before you can scroll. Pushscroll is the bigger app: it runs on Android as well as iPhone, turns each rep into minutes of app time and adds workouts, levels and a community. Fitlock is iPhone only, but it has a free plan with no time limit, costs $2.99 a month when you upgrade, and counts steps, workouts and other Apple Health goals as well as camera-counted push-ups and squats.

### Choose Fitlock if

- You want a free plan you can keep using, not a 7-day trial
- You'd like steps, workouts or arriving at the gym to count, not only reps in front of the camera
- You want to choose when blocking runs, with recurring or one-off schedules and a Strict Mode

### Choose Pushscroll if

- You use Android, or switch between Android and iPhone
- You want lots of camera-counted exercises and follow-along workouts
- Streaks, levels and a community keep you going

## Fitlock vs Pushscroll at a glance

| When blocking is on | Schedules you set: recurring or one-off, on the days and times you choose, with an optional allowance before the locks start | Time limits you set on each app. Reps earn more minutes |

Pushscroll and Fitlock sit in the same small corner of the App Store: apps that block your social media until you’ve moved. They get there in different ways, which is what makes Fitlock worth a look as a Pushscroll alternative.

## How Pushscroll works

Pushscroll trades exercise for scrolling time. You pick the apps you want to limit, and when you run out of time you do reps in front of your phone’s camera to earn more. By default one push-up buys one minute, and you can change that rate. Pose detection counts push-ups, squats, planks, sit-ups, lunges, jumping jacks and a few more, and daily steps from Apple Health can earn minutes too.

Around that sits a fitness app: follow-along workouts, levels to work through, streaks, collectibles and a Discord community. Pushscroll runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and its website says it’s trusted by more than 300,000 people. After a 7-day free trial you need Pushscroll Pro.

## How Fitlock works as a Pushscroll alternative

Fitlock starts from your day rather than a bank of minutes. You set a schedule, such as 9 to 5 on weekdays with Sundays left open, choose the apps or websites to block, and pick a goal. The apps stay locked until Apple Health, or the camera, confirms you’ve hit it. Goals can be steps, a workout, stand time, cycling distance, meditation, time outside, reaching a place, wheelchair pushes, or push-ups and squats counted by the camera. Rules can also earn you extra time, like “1,000 steps and 45 minutes of exercise earns an extra hour”.

Schedules can repeat every week or run just once, and you can start the day with an allowance of screen time before the locks begin. A place can be a goal too: arrive at the gym, the office or school and Fitlock unlocks your apps, or earns you time, as soon as you get there.

If you need to get in early, you can take a break, but each extra break makes the next wait longer. Strict Mode, part of Fitlock Pro, takes breaks away completely.

## The real difference

Pushscroll is built around the rep: every minute of scrolling has a price in push-ups or squats, paid in front of the camera. That suits people who want bodyweight exercise to be the whole point. Fitlock is built around your normal day. A walk to work, a gym session your Apple Watch already logged, or a bike ride can all unlock your apps, and the camera is one option among several.

The other big difference is cost. Fitlock’s free plan has no time limit, and Pro costs less than Pushscroll Pro. See [pricing](https://fitlock.io/pricing/) for what each tier includes.

## Where Pushscroll may suit you better

Pushscroll is the better pick if you use Android, since Fitlock only runs on iPhone. It also counts more exercises with the camera, comes with guided workouts, and leans on streaks, levels and a community to keep you going, which Fitlock doesn’t try to do.
